COVID-19 Travel Advisory

  1. Effective from 23rd July 2021, Maldivians and Work Visa Holders are allowed to travel to the Maldives and to comply with the following requirements:
  • Maldivians and Work Visa holder Should hold a valid negative PCR test result with a sample taken at most 96hours prior to embarkation at first port enroute to Maldives.
  • Individual(s) who have received all the prescribed doses of a Covid-19 vaccine that has been approved by Maldives Food and Drug Authority or WHO for emergency (EUL: Status of COVID-19 Vaccines within WHO EUL/PQ evaluation process), and completed 14 (fourteen) days (prior to date of arrival) after the prescribed dose(s) of a vaccine, will not have to quarantine. Children who are not eligible for vaccination, accompanying the aforementioned individual(s) can also travel without having to quarantine. Individual(s) (including children) traveling with this exemption, should do a PCR test between 5-7 days from arrival in Maldives
  • The individual(s) who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives and recovered; if not exceeded 60 (Sixty) days from the date of positive sample collection, will not have to quarantine. Children who are not eligible for vaccination, accompanying the aforementioned individual(s) can also travel without having to quarantine). Children traveling with this exemption should undertake PCR testing between 5-7 days from arrival.
  • Those who do not fit into the criteria stated above in (b) and (c), would be required to quarantine for 14-days (fourteen) after arrival to Maldives. Such individual(s) must obtain a negative PCR test result on completion of the 14 days, before they are released from quarantine.
  1. Tourists must have a hotel reservation confirmation for the entire stay in a registered tourist facility.
  2. Effective from 26th July 2021 onwards, Tourists intending to check-in or stay at tourist facilities in inhabited islands will be Permitted if;
  • they have completed prescribed dose(s) of a COVID19 vaccine (approved by World Health Organization Emergency Use Listing (EUL) or Maldives Food and Drug Authority), and at least l4 (fourteen) days have passed after the completion of the prescribed dose(s), and
  • hold a negative result for a nucleic acid test (PCR tesQ for COVID- l9 with sample taken at most 96 hours before departure from the first port of embarkation.
  1. Effective from 08th July 2021, Work Visa holders originating from South Asian countries are allowed to travel to the Maldives but they are obliged to comply with the Quarantine Guidelines for Work Permit Holders Travelling from South Asia
  2. Tourists are required to follow guidelines in place by the Ministry of Tourism
  3. Travelers who develop COVID-19 signs and symptoms will be tested for COVID-19 and if the test result is positive, the traveler will be subject to isolation as per the Health Protection Agency protocols.
  4. Travelers who are contacts of COVID-19 cases will be subject to quarantine as per the Health Protection Agency protocols.

I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT, POSSESION OF A PCR NEGATIVE TEST DOES NOT PRECLUDE NATIONAL AUTHORITIES FROM UNDERTAKING ANY ADDITIONAL SCREENING OR SURVELLANCE MEASURES DEEMED NECESSARY.

Where applicable, if I am consenting to submit information to the carrier and Maldives Immigration on behalf of a child, I acknowledge and agree that I have the legal capacity to do so as a parent and as a legal guardian of that child.

I also warrant that the COVID19 PCR test results that I am providing have not been altered, changed, modified or tampered with anyway and are accurate to the best of my knowledge. I hereby, INDEMNIFY the carrier / Maldives Immigration / Health Protection Agency FROM all liabilities regarding the PCR test results and agree to bear the costs for ANY FURTHER testing, ISOLATION and quarantine related to COVID19 where applicable and necessary.

All tourists who are found symptomatic will be assessed by a doctor on arrival and if you fit the case definition criteria, a sample will be taken from you to test for Covid-19 (for which you must pay). Tourists will stay in a designated transit facility until they get their test results.
For tourists, if you tested positive you may be sent back to your resort to be isolated for 14 days. Tourist must bear all additional expenses incurred as a result of being tested positive for Covid-19. All others if tested positive will be sent to a government isolation facility for a period of 14 days. (Foreigners may have to pay for any Covid-19 testing and for the additional days of your isolation in the resort or government facility).


Travellers who arrive in the Maldives, except for tourists, shall register for home quarantine through the “haalubelun” Web portal, prior to starting travel to Maldives. If you have not registered in the web portal, you shall complete and collect quarantine document from health office at the port you arrive.

Tourists who require proof of Negative PCR Test for COVID19 for departure are advised and expected to contact the tourist establishment or place of stay 72 to 48 hours ahead of the departure time to ensure testing is done as soon as possible, and are advised to travel to the airport only when the proof of negative result is obtained. Other travellers shall contact designated testing facilities for testing to be done. Testing costs to be borne by the traveller.

Under the Section 12(a) of Law Number 7/2012 (Public Health Protection Act), as a prevention and control measures of COVID19, it is the current policy of the government to impose a home quarantine for a period of 10 days on arrival for those arriving in Maldives except for tourists. All travellers fitting the criteria must oblige to this decision.

And I agree to Register on web portal within 12 to 24 hours of arrival, in order for me to receive the legal document from HPA (Does not apply for tourists and workers going directly to resort/Safari)
