All the travellers must submit online health declaration form within 24 hours prior your departure to Maldives.

COVID-19 Travel Advisory

  1. Effective from 23rd July 2021, Maldivians and Work Visa holders arriving from abroad are required to comply with the following requirements:

    • a) Maldivians and Work Visa holder should hold a valid negative PCR test result with a sample taken at most 72hours prior to embarkation at first port en-route to the Maldives.

    • b) Passengers who have received all the prescribed doses of a Covid-19 vaccine that has been approved by Maldives Food and Drug Authority or WHO for emergency (EUL: Status of COVID-19 Vaccines within WHO EUL/PQ evaluation process), and completed 14 (fourteen) days (prior to date of arrival) after the prescribed dose(s) of a vaccine, will be exempt from quarantine (including the accompanying children who cannot be vaccinated). Passengers (including children) traveling with this exemption, should do a PCR test between 5-7 days from the arrival date.

    • c) Passengers who have diagnosed and recovered for COVID-19 in the Maldives, and travels to the Maldives within 60 (sixty) days from the sample date of the COVID-19 positive PCR test result will be exempt from quarantine (including the accompanying children who cannot be vaccinated).. Children who are not eligible for vaccination, accompanying the aforementioned individual(s) can also travel without having to quarantine). Children traveling with this exemption should undertake PCR testing between 5-7 days from arrival.

    • d) Those who do not fit into the criteria stated above in (b) and (c), would be required to quarantine for 14-days (fourteen) after arrival to the Maldives. Such passengers must obtain a negative PCR test result on completion of the 14 days, before they are released from quarantine.

  2. Tourists must have a hotel reservation confirmation for the entire stay in a registered tourist facility.

  3. Tourists travelling from South Asian countries (Afghanistan, Pakistan, lndia, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka) will be permitted to check-in or stay at tourist facilities in inhabited islands from 25th July 2021.

  4. Effective from 26th July 2021 onwards, Tourists intending to check-in or stay at tourist facilities in inhabited islands will be permitted if;

    • a) They have completed prescribed dose(s) of a COVID19 vaccine (approved by World Health Organization Emergency Use Listing (EUL) or Maldives Food and Drug Authority), and at least 14 (fourteen) days have passed after the completion of the prescribed dose(s), and

    • b) They hold a negative result for a nucleic acid test (PCR test for COVID- 19 with sample taken at most 72 (seventy-two) hours before departure from the first port of embarkation.

  5. Effective from 08th July 2021, Work Visa holders originating from South Asian countries are allowed to travel to the Maldives but they are obliged to comply with the Quarantine Guidelines for Work Permit Holders Travelling from South Asia.

  6. Tourists are required to follow guidelines in place by the Ministry of Tourism https://tourism.gov.mv.

  7. Travelers who develop COVID-19 signs and symptoms will be tested for COVID-19 and if the test result is positive, the traveler will be subject to isolation as per the Health Protection Agency protocols.

  8. Travelers who are contacts of COVID-19 cases will be subject to quarantine as per the Health Protection Agency protocols.

Note

All tourists who are found symptomatic will be assessed by a doctor on arrival and if you fit the case definition criteria, a sample will be taken from you to test for Covid-19 (for which you must pay). Tourists will stay in a designated transit facility until they get their test results.
For tourists, if you tested positive you may be sent back to your resort to be isolated for 14 days. Tourist must bear all additional expenses incurred as a result of being tested positive for Covid-19. All others if tested positive will be sent to a government isolation facility for a period of 14 days. (Foreigners may have to pay for any Covid-19 testing and for the additional days of your isolation in the resort or government facility).

Under the Section 12(a) of Law Number 7/2012 (Public Health Protection Act), as a prevention and control measures of COVID19, it is the current policy of the government to impose a home quarantine for a period of 10 days on arrival for those arriving in Maldives except for tourists. All travellers fitting the criteria must oblige to this decision.
